Your comment at Sue's place prompted me to leave the following comment on her blog:
"Your post and Malisa's comment made me think of my own dad. He too would have been so proud of Obama in the White House. My father worked hard for intergration, long before it was the thing to do. Many times he stood alone in the fight and in the field. I'll have to post about that, I guess.
But Dad also would have stood up for the Tea Parties and people's right to express their opinion. That's the American way. He'd be the first to say, "Stand up for the right to speak out" and he'd say it on the front page of his newspaper!"
Dad wasn't qualified to read minds and neither am I. But just as I, a Republican, hopes Obama has the right stuff in his heart, you need to hope these Tea Partiers have the right stuff too. Malisa, my son you met in Warrenton? He was one of those Tea Partiers and everybody that knows him, knows he is the farthest thing from a racist as you can get.

Cher: I have no doubt that there are genuine people who are not racists who attended the tea parties. I am a HUGE supporter of free speech!
However, what does bother me are large number of racists who cannot stand to have Obama in office because of the color of his skin. You know there are many of them. Alot of them were holding up hateful signs at the "tea party"! The signs weren't about taxes or the economy or about the administration who left us in this mess...they were about Obama! Most of what bothers me is the vast majority of "tea baggers" who are being manipulated into fear by Fix "News".
When one sees the signs and hears the words that some of the protesters are saying, one must indeed take your words and realize that:
